hey all,
was kinda bored in the afternoon so i finally decided to get off my ass and try using my recording programme. something was wrong with my SM-57, couldnt seem to record a signal.. so i went blind via my DI box (MXR M-80).
basically my laptop is just a General Purpose machine so don't expect good quality recording, it's just going in via an XLR cable into a 1/8" converter to my laptops mic jack.
because of that, i can't hear what im playing as well.. so all effects are agar-ration and i only know what they sound like after i record them. plus when im over-dubbing, im just playing to the music as a guide, but i can't hear what im playing except what i hit the strings..! haha.. i totally don't recommend this method, and will probably get a 1/8" to 1/4" converter so i can get a signal out from my DI and hear what im recording next time
a lil bit about the song:
was working on a 2 chord progression with appegios..
then after that i just started adding tracks to it:
1. slide guitar w/ chorus effect
2. 2 delays for 2nd melody line
3. vintage rat and mxr dynacomp for the SUCK-ASS pathetic excuse of a guitar solo (i'm really a bassplayer.. just borrowed my friend's guitar)
4. bass..
bass was a Fender MIM Jazz, and the guitar was a modified epi LP with i dunno what pickups..
haha.. comments are welcome, and so are insults, but please leave something because i spent freaking 3-4 hours playing blind to get this nonsense out!
thanks peeps, much appreciated -)
